Will I Find a New Girlfriend After Breaking Up With My Old One?

This is one of those thoughts that will probably dominate your mind for a little while after you've ended a relationship with someone that you were dating for a little while. Will I find a new girlfriend? That question can make you feel hopeful, it can make you feel insecure, it can make you feel a lot of things. However, you should remind yourself that you WILL be able to find a new girlfriend as long as you are doing the right things to try and meet someone else.

What are those things?

1. You should be working on getting over the ex girlfriend and getting excited by the thought of finding a new girlfriend.

Nothing is more motivating than being excited at the idea of getting a new girlfriend. As long as you don't fall back on pessimistic thinking and feeling sorry for yourself about the old relationship ending, you should be good to go. Work on getting over the old one so that you don't bring any unnecessary baggage into a new relationship. You don't want to be one of those guys who meets a woman and immediately starts talking about the ex girlfriend all night long, do you?

2. You should be going out instead of staying home.

Staying home a lot right after breaking up with a girlfriend is about the last thing that you want to do. What are you probably going to end up doing if you just stay at home? You are probably going to end up turning on the radio and listening to some sad song that reminds you of your ex girlfriend. Or, you are going to feel isolated and the more isolated that you feel, the less hopeful you are going to feel about meeting someone new. Get out as much as you can and actively work on socializing with women.

3. You should be approaching women.

You can't expect that you are going to be able to find the next girlfriend if you are the kind of guy who sits by himself at the bar or hangs out in the corner with one of his friends. You have to be willing to get up and approach a woman, even if that is not really something that you are very comfortable with. Always keep in mind that the more women you approach, the better your odds are that you are going to find a connection and eventually end up with a new girlfriend.

How to Stop Being the Clingy Girlfriend

Are you the kind of woman who constantly needs to be with her man? Do you find yourself worrying if he doesn't respond to your messages right away or answer your phone calls? Do you try to keep in contact with him at all hours of the day, regardless of his or your other obligations? Playing the needy girlfriend can destroy an otherwise healthy relationship. Nothing will send a guy running more than a woman who clings to him like the world will end if he's not around. He'll feel suffocated, and he will want out.

It's important to be realistic when in a relationship. You must acknowledge that you are being too clingy and asking too much of your man before you wreck what you have. A lot of neediness stems from a low self-worth, so your first step in improving the situation is improving your view of yourself. Make a point to focus on your best qualities. Taking the time to dress yourself up every day can help to boost your confidence. Taking up a new hobby can help give you something else to think about while you have something fun to do.

Don't sit around and wait for your guy to call you or take you out. Make plans of your own! Spend more time with friends and family that you care about, or put more effort into a project at work. Once you have activities that keep you occupied and entertained, you will feel better about yourself and you won't need the company of a man to feel fulfilled.

If you're the type of woman who gets nervous when he doesn't respond to your messages or calls right away, you have to be more rational. He's a person with his own life, too! Allow him time to be himself and be with his friends and family, as well. Just because he doesn't answer on the first ring doesn't mean he doesn't care about you, it just means that he has friends, a career and hobbies of his own.

You must recognize that your neediness will be the death of your relationship if you allow it to spiral out of control. Address the underlying insecurities that cause you to feel like you need to be in contact with him at all times. Spend time building on your strengths and enjoying life. You will grow as a person and he will want to be with you even more. No man wants his girlfriend to be clingy, so you need to learn to be independent and confident on your own. You don't need a man to validate you, so why put that pressure on him?

Relationship Advice - Are You A Pretend Girlfriend?

Sometimes a relationship can appear to be moving along nicely and then, out of the blue, something happens to cause the woman to question the legitimacy of the whole relationship. Instead of many aspects of the relationship being as solid as she assumed them to be, she now suspects she does not hold the position in the relationship she once believed she held. She now feels as if she is her partner's "pretend" girlfriend. Is this really true?

Here are a few ways to confirm your suspicions...

1. His friends and family know nothing about you. This means your partner has gone to great lengths to keep any knowledge of you from them. Anytime you mention seeing his family or friends, he always seems to have the perfect excuse why "this isn't a good time". The truth is, there is never going to be a good time because you are a temporary part of his life and not someone he wants to bother introducing to his family and/or friends.

2. He never talks about the future. Or, if he does, it conveniently never seems to include you. He might chalk it up to being gun-shy of being hurt from planning too much too quickly but, the truth is, he sees his future and you just happen to not be a part of it.

3. There are major gaps in his life and background you don't know anything about. New relationships are all about getting to know one another. If you have been dating a while and, yet, you still have many unanswered questions he doesn't seem to be willing to open up about, either he's in the witness protection program or he really has a lot to hide from you.

4. He still hasn't updated his Facebook status. Even though you have mentioned it to him a "thousand times", he has avoided updating his status. Why would he be so hesitant? It's simple: so he can keep his options open.

5. He introduces you as his "friend" without the "girl" in front of it. Ouch! That's gotta hurt. This gives you a clear indication he sees you as a friend and nothing special beyond that. Oh, he'll try to brush his remark off as being "no big deal" or "nothing to worry about", but you should be worried... be very worried.

6. You don't know where he lives or works. What do you need to show you the truth? Hello! He's hiding something!

If you are a pretend girlfriend, what is behind you staying with this person? Are destructive emotions at the heart of any problems you are experiencing with this relationship? If so, you need to get control of what you are really telling yourself. What are your beliefs?
